Larks Hill Focus

We have taken on more projects at Larks Hill since 2014. Here are just some of the things we have been doing.

Larks Hill Hedge

  • Planted over 300 metres of native hedge to support wildlife.
  • Regular weeding and pruning to help hedge establish
  • Working with children as well as adults

Larks Hill Orchard

Larks Hill features a 100 tree orchard of apples, pears and plums. In 2020 we received training on pruning – thanks go to Jealotts Hill Community Landshare for that. We have pruned 19 apple trees over three work parties to help restore the orchard to good health. In 2023 we have planted 8 heritage apple trees to infill in the orchard.

Let’s Get the Larks Back!

We plan to put up a dead hedge in spring 2023 around part of the field. We hope that will encourage the titular larks to return and nest. As they are ground nesting they need protecting from human and dog incursion.
